Cyberchat and Realms-RP server requires a certain amount of money each month to pay the bills. It's a pretty powerful server (and it has to be, if it's going to support hundreds of simultaneously connected people) so occasionally we require some help from the users to pay that money.
Because of a shortfall in the banner ad revenue (they help pay for the server, without them it would be too expensive for us to run the site), we will need some donations from the users to help cover the remaining costs. We've broken the donations up into blocks of five dollars, American.
Each month, we get a payout from our ad sponsor based on the number of impressions and/or clicks on the ads around the site. The more impressions, or clicks, the more money we generate. Our goal has always been to generate just enough to cover the cost of our servers. Lately, Cyberchat's impression/clicks have been way down. On any given day, tK generates a large number of impressions, but CC on the other hand is generating less than 1/10th of what theKeep is! Turning off any ad blockers will help us out and will enable us to once again get rid of the donation system.
All of this has led us to introduce the Donation system. The donation System allows everyone to contribute to running Cyberchat and Realms. Everyone who purchases a block will be recorded (if they wish they can also donate anonymously) in a contributor's section. Those who contribute to running a lot of these blocks will receive special recognition.
The program to the right shows how many blocks we (the owners) have taken care of, either from our banner ads or from our own pockets, and how many blocks we still need funds for.
